What I love about this book is that it's actually a compilation of many short stories. It sets the atmosphere and scene, sets the characters and then gives you the truth about things from an insiders look.It can get really funny at some points, and very serious at others. Keeps you alert and yet very comfy while reading it.
The way I see it, is to view my everyday situations through the eyes of a tourist, and a chapter later - through the eyes of a resident.

I purchased this book months ago, never intending to take this long to read, but now that I'm done,I am awaiting the sequel. Thank you, Jett for sharing a part of who you are, Yafo boy!
I was hoping that I would like this book given a planned upcoming trip to the Middle East and a desire to learn about places off the beaten path. Unfortunately, this book has scant details about any places in the Middle East other than Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and even then most stories concern bars and cafes and the author's attempt to chase down women. The worst crime, however, is that the book is very poorly written. It is a collection of notes, haphazardly arranged, and in one case jumps from first person to third person. Not worth the free price.
It's a great book.
